Bio
Mads Daugaard Mortensen (b. 1986 in Odense, Denmark) currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
He has a background in Visual Communication (DK) and Interactive Art Direction from Hyper Island in Stockholm. Over the past decade, he has worked in the creative industry across several cities such as Copenhagen, Berlin, Sydney, Stockholm, London, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. In 2021, he made the decision to focus entirely on his art practice.
As a multidisciplinary artist, he chooses freely between mediums, but often sets dogmas to focus his creative vision. His artistic output reflects his unique perspective and personal experiences. It often reflects his fascination in exploring the mundane human condition and the overlooked nuances in the world around him.
He created an ongoing digital photo archive, that allows him to find and keep track of patterns, systems and themes. In the end, they find their way into his unconsciousness. This enables him to be more present in the moment and respond to the work as it develops, yet still with intention and direction. This approach leads to a more authentic and expressive work, as his intuitive and free-flowing creative process is not limited. You can follow his visual documentation here.
As an artist, he sees himself as the interpreter of his patterns of intuition and observation. With this in mind, his objective is not to dictate his own interpretation, but instead to allow people to form their own intuitive understanding.
